THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Client Platform System Debug Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The Client Platform Systems Debug Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON:

A highly analytical, technically adept debug engineer and a versatile leader showcasing triage engagement with a broad expertise in OEM Platform Debug. This individual thrives in cross-functional environments and is the subject matter expert to our growing team. As a key contributor, the ideal candidate will have a strong technical background to contribute to all aspects of the debug process and will be passionate about driving debug and resolving customer issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Triage and Debug Windows OS Notebook systems with an emphasis on system and platform level.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on root causing issues, finding optimum resolutions
  • Provide root cause analysis and guidance to internal and customer design teams to help close issues.
  • Support project independently and handle all issues to co-work with internal and external team well.
  • A self-starter required and able to deal with a high level of ambiguity.
  • Effectively utilize programming tools, software and hardware debuggers.
  • Apply industry tools for root causing system level complex issues
  • Be able to hand-on troubleshoot and solve the technical issues; own the problem and drive for resolution
  • Able to proactively support team culture that fosters knowledge sharing, excellence, and collaboration
  • Go-to-person for debugging of issues for the Production level Platform validation

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python)
  • Demonstrated Debug techniques and methodologies to solve complex system level failures
  • Experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Extensive experience with board/platform-level debugging, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization
  • Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion
  • Strong knowledge of x86 platform architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills are required in the role of supporting customers.
  • Develop / Document debug capabilities on a given SOC and System
  • Good balance of hardware, architecture, and software expertise
  • Proven ability to drive resolution of critical problems within a lab environment with multiple escalations
  • Understanding product development lifecycle, through bring-up and validation till product release to production.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
