General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a System Director of Perioperative Strategic Service Operationsto join our team!

The System Director of Perioperative Service Line Strategy and Operations is responsible for driving enterprise-wide strategic operational efficiencies, overseeing complex transformation projects, and creating an environment of practice that is conducive to building a culture of operational agility and innovation. The System Director is responsible for supporting the ongoing development of the Perioperative Service Line and its strategic growth and operations in partnership with functional and clinical leaders. The System Director serves as both an execution lead and a trusted executive advisor, orchestrating cross-functional efforts that enable scalable, measurable change across the organization. The System Director executes the related role responsibilities primarily in partnership with the executive leader of the Perioperative Service Line business operations and may be responsible for some or all of the duties summarized in this job description.

Primary Duties:

  • Leads enterprise-wide transformation initiatives from conception through execution, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, business priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Defines project scope and success metrics, provides executive-level consulting support, and drives strategic foresight to align business growth with operational excellence.
  • Translates executive vision into actionable plans, supports functional leaders in sustaining initiatives, and maintains accountability for key performance dashboards and metrics.
  • Builds strong cross-functional partnerships, establishes governance structures, reports on milestones, and ensures transparency and collaboration across all levels.
  • Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, contributes to quality and performance initiatives, and supports budgeting and financial performance aligned with strategic priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health care related field plus equivalent experience (Required)
  • Master's Degree in health care related field (Required)
  • 5-7 years of progressive healthcare management experience and leadership, preferably in service line management (Required)


This position has a hiring range of $114,004 - $219,960
