Job Description

We are currently hiring a FTSr. Manager SAP, hybrid in Boston MA.

At The Boston Beer Company, we believe that the best beer, cider, and seltzer starts with the best systems behind the scenes. The Senior IT Manager - SAP is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for guiding the stability, evolution, and innovation of our ERP platform across brewing, supply chain, distribution, and finance.

This role requires expertise in SAP ECC, proven leadership of a successful S/4HANA transition, and the ability to oversee technical development efforts, including ABAP, while driving system governance, integration, and business value. You will create and own Boston Beer's SAP strategy, ensuring that ERP capabilities directly support our operational excellence, scalability, and digital transformation goals.

You will work closely with senior business leaders to ensure SAP is leveraged as a competitive advantage, enabling faster product launches, improved supply chain agility, tighter cost control, and enhanced customer experiences.

*A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams' weekly schedule.

What You'll Brew:

Strategic SAP Leadership



  • Create, own, and execute against a comprehensive SAP strategy aligned with Boston Beer's operational and growth priorities
  • Own and maintain the SAP roadmap, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and future-state architecture
  • Partner with Brewing, Supply Chain, Distribution, and Finance leaders to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and operational leadership, translating business needs into SAP-enabled solutions
  • Establish and enforce SAP governance for configuration, integrations, and change control


SAP Transformation



  • Lead the planning and execution of the S/4HANA migration, from scope definition and resource allocation through configuration, testing, and deployment
  • Ensure minimal disruption to brewing, production, logistics, and finance operations
  • Oversee change management and post-go-live stabilization activities


Operational Excellence & Technical Oversight



  • Ensure stability, performance, and compliance of SAP ECC across key modules (MM, SD, PP, WM/EWM, FI/CO)
  • Provide leadership and quality oversight for technical development efforts, including ABAP, ensuring maintainable, scalable, and secure solutions
  • Oversee integrations with MES, quality management, logistics, and other third-party systems
  • Drive continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in SAP solution design


Work Management



  • Champion and implement an Agile delivery model for SAP projects, ensuring iterative delivery, continuous feedback, and stakeholder engagement
  • Manage a balanced portfolio of large-scale projects, enhancements, and operational support activities
  • Oversee demand intake, prioritization, and resource allocation to ensure high-value initiatives are delivered on time and within budget
  • Promote transparency in project progress, decision-making, and issue resolution across IT and business stakeholders
  • Establish and track delivery metrics (velocity, quality, value realization) to continuously improve SAP project outcomes
  • Facilitate regular business reviews to align priorities and adjust plans based on evolving needs


Team and Vendor Leadership



  • Build/Lead and inspire a high-performing team of SAP functional analysts and developers
  • Mentor and develop staff, building technical depth and business process expertise, and reducing long-term reliance on external partners
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure performance to SLA and budget expectations
  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining of engaged & high-performing coworkers
  • Ensures that direct reports are provided with clear expectations & direction and are empowered and held accountable to achieve their goals and perform their jobs
  • Builds a collaborative & results-oriented team by resolving conflicts as they arise, removing roadblocks, inspiring people to action, and helping the team to decide to change and/or make changes
  • Provides regular and meaningful feedback to coworkers through development, coaching, and comprehensive performance reviews that focuses on learning, growth and continuous improvement


What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of SAP experience, with deep ECC knowledge across manufacturing, supply chain, and finance functional areas
  • Proven leadership of at least one full-cycle S/4HANA upgrade/migration in a manufacturing or CPG environment
  • Experience managing technical development in an SAP environment
  • Strong understanding of SAP architecture, integrations, and Basis concepts
  • Demonstrated experience applying Agile or hybrid project delivery methodologies to ERP initiatives
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing budgets, project portfolios, and vendor contracts


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in food & beverage or regulated manufacturing industries


Level: 4M

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $135,000 and $239,900. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
