We're looking for a skilled General Maintenance Mechanic with HVAC expertise to join our Facilities Team. If you're hands-on, technically sharp, and thrive on keeping systems humming, this is your moment. You'll be the go-to expert for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning across our sprawling Montgomery County site-ensuring comfort, safety, and uninterrupted operations in labs, manufacturing cells, offices, and more.


Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with a diverse team including engineers, technicians, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) personnel, management, vendor partners and others to perform all assigned responsibilities and other work safely, promptly, effectively and efficiently.
    • Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance of facilities infrastructure systems, equipment and components.
    • Evaluate and troubleshoot malfunctions of facilities infrastructure systems, equipment and components. Diagnose problems and perform corrective maintenance so as to avoid production delays.
    • Inspect, maintain:
      • HVAC equipment and systems, including (but not limited to) Roof Top Units (RTUs), Air Handling Units (AHUs), Supply Fans (SFs), Exhaust Fans (EFs), Cooling Towers (CTs), Heat Exchangers (HEs), chillers, walk-in and reach-in refrigerators and freezers, etc.
      • Bladders, filters, lubricators, strainers, separators, control valves, regulators, o-rings, seals, gaskets, etc.
    • Learn to operate the Building Automation System (BAS) - JCI Metasys.
    • Assist with the installation of new, and the modification of existing, building equipment and systems.
    • Regularly perform rounds, and inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe conditions, proper functionality, etc.
    • Respond immediately and appropriately to emergency situations.
    • Work all required hours, as well as extended hours beyond a traditional work schedule as needed to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts, sometimes with little or no notice. Be on-call 1 week at a time, several times a year.
    • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, laws, as well as CAES policy, procedures and practices, related to building operations and working safely.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.
  • 3 years of direct professional HVAC Technician experience.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, various types of ladders and lifts, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, as well as vendor partners, at any given time.
  • Fluency in reading and evaluating operating and maintenance instructions as well as construction drawings (e.g. architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, etc.) and specifications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software (e.g. FM Works)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and collaborate with most levels of the organization.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and technology such as smart phones, tablets, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:

  • 4+ years' direct professional maintenance experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and collaborate with most levels of the organization.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and technology such as smart phones, tablets, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.
  • Fluency in reading and evaluating operating and maintenance instructions as well as construction drawings (e.g. architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, etc.) and specifications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software (e.g. FM Works)

Salary Range: Sr. Mechanic: $22.96hr - $33.32hr; Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
