About the Department |
The Department of Clinical Sciences has 60 faculty members, 59 residents, interns, and post-doctoral fellows, 23 graduate students, and 24 research technicians and 3 administrative staff. The department provides learning opportunities within the four-year veterinary curriculum (educational information) and through continuing education for practitioners. Within the Veterinary Health Complex, faculty and staff provide care for patients, teach veterinary students, and provide advanced training for interns and residents.
Faculty are very active in research programs to improve the health and welfare of animals and people. The Comparative Biomedical Sciences graduate program allows graduate students to focus their research in the areas of cell biology, infectious diseases, pharmacology, pathology, and population medicine. Other graduate programs with which departmental faculty are affiliated include programs in immunology, physiology, toxicology and functional genomics. Faculty are also involved with the Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology graduate program. |

Essential Job Duties |
The Research Technician will support the Olby Lab's clinical trial and longitudinal study databases by managing data entry and assisting with animal handling for study assessments. This role plays a key part in ensuring data quality and supporting post-doctoral and graduate research projects in a collaborative research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, monitor, and record research data to ensure accuracy, validity, and integrity.
- Maintain and manage study databases, including entering and exporting data for analysis.
- Perform data quality control checks and summarize outcome measures.
- Assist in preparing study subjects for experimental procedures and ensure adherence to sanitation and safety protocols.
- Support research projects through behavioral analysis of videos, retrieval of data from activity monitors and pressure mats, and assistance with dog handling.
- Contribute to the documentation of research findings and provide general research support to post-doctoral fellows and graduate students.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience or academic background in behavioral sciences or a related field.
- Proficiency with data spreadsheets and comfort learning new software systems.
- Experience handling and working with dogs and cats in a research or clinical setting.
- Applied understanding of biostatistics and data interpretation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy and research integrity.
