Position Overview: Henry Ford Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates at Genesys Hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated team. In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Licensure / Certification / Registration: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred. Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required. Master's degree preferred. Work Experience: 1-2 years of recent and relevant work experience as a Certified Nurse Practitioner with 1st Assistant in the OR in Neurosurgery or Orthopedic Spine Surgery. Qualifications: * NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) * NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan Licensure and Certification * Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application) * National certification as an NP * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required by * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * DEA/CSL, required through credentialing. o DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.
