The opportunity:

Provide mechanical support for the development and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and utilities in manufacturing, research, and development environments. This includes performing regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on process and utility equipment to ensure high reliability and uptime. The role will utilize test and diagnostic equipment and preventive maintenance technologies to improve operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Ensure cGMP compliance by maintaining and repairing equipment and utility systems, performing corrective/preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, water), and managing spare parts inventories to optimize production.

  • Equipment Involvement: Perform equipment modifications, including installation, validation, startup, and decommissioning of new/existing equipment.

  • Compliance and Documentation: Follow cGMP, GDP, and all relevant SOPs, document maintenance activities, support inspections, and manage discrepancies using systems like VEEVA.

  • Safety Protocols: Strictly adhere to safety requirements such as LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work permits, and PPE standards.

  • Collaboration and Training: Communicate with various teams (manufacturing, QA, R&D), promptly respond to emergencies, ensure training compliance, and provide training as needed.

Who You Are:

  • You possess a High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry experience with thorough working knowledge of cGMP maintenance production in accordance with FDA regulatory guidelines. Other regulated industry experience (e.g., Aviation, Petrochemical) will be considered.

  • You have Synthetic Molecule Support (MECH0250) - Direct maintenance experience with process equipment, plant utilities, and clean validated utilities (e.g., HVAC, Process Air, Nitrogen, Purified Water).

  • You possess excellent interpersonal effectiveness, planning, communication, and customer service skills (written and oral) for interfacing across departments and management levels.

  • You are proficient in Google Office Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Email, Calendar).

  • You have experience with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GDP (Good Documentation Practices).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Technical degree, certificate, or completion of a technical school or accredited two-year program is a plus.

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems.

  • Current universal refrigeration license in good standing.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations

  • Perform daily tasks involving walking/moving between service calls and preventative maintenance work, work in loud environments requiring ear protection, and lift 30-40 pounds regularly.

  • Handle various chemicals, pressurized gases and liquids of various temperatures, and work with energized systems, and in close proximity to moving equipment.

  • May require entry into confined spaces and use of a respirator.

  • Provide off-hours emergency maintenance coverage and work overtime/off-shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco, CA is $84,600- $125,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
