About the Job

The School of Public Health Division of Epidemiology and Community Health is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator (8352CR Rsch Pro 2-Clinical Research) for the mGlide-Care study conducted by Dr. Kamakshi Lakshminarayan.

Work Arrangements: The University of Minnesota endorses a "Work. While some work may be done remotely (with prior approval from your manager), core aspects of the job, including participant enrollment and follow-up visits, require an on-site presence. The candidate must also be flexible to accommodate patient schedules. This position is based at the Epidemiology Clinical Research Center (ECRC) - 1100 Washington Ave S. Minneapolis.

Starting Salary is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $51,000 to $60,000

High blood pressure (hypertension) is known to increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney disease in patients. mGlide-Care is a randomized clinical trial that aims to find the best way for doctors and pharmacists to help people effectively manage their high blood pressure using home blood pressure monitoring.

The study compares a remote monitoring intervention - where participants use a smartphone app to send real-time BP readings to their clinical team - against the standard care model of sharing readings only during clinic visits. mGlide-Care specifically focuses on effectiveness of at-home blood pressure monitoring in people with early-stage cognitive impairment in collaboration with a caregiver.

The Research Professional 2 will be responsible for all aspects of the clinical trial including screening, recruiting, and enrolling patients, performing follow-up visits, ensuring high-quality data collection and reporting, and adhering to strict ethical standards. The ideal candidate will be familiar with University of Minnesota systems such as REDCap, Ethos, and OnCore, have prior experience enrolling participants, and possess the ability to work under limited daily supervision. This position reports to the Project Manager and Principle Investigator.

Responsibilities:

Completes screening, recruitment, informed consent, and enrollment of patients (40%)

Schedules and performs study follow-up visits. Collects and enters data as specified by protocol (30%)

Completes regulatory tasks, including drafting and submitting IRB applications (10%)

Assists with other research-related administrative tasks, as assigned (10%)

Completes and maintains study screening logs and source documentation (5%)

Actively participates in meetings with study PI and project manager (5%)

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS with at least two years of clinical research/administration experience OR a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years
  • Effective verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to follow study protocols and adhere to good ethical standards
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Commitment to fostering a respectful workplace

Preferred:

  • Experience administering cognitive assessments
  • Experience recruiting participants for clinical research
  • Experience working with patients, preferably elderly and/or dementia patients or residents of nursing homes
  • Effective time management and planning skills, including independently prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Willingness to contribute to research efficiency and offer suggestions for quality improvement
  • Experience with EPIC or electronic medical records
  • Familiarity with REDCap, Ethos (IRB) and OnCore
  • Experience in preparing IRB applications and study-related documentation
  • Familiarity with technology like smartphones and tablets, including installing apps on devices
  • Access to reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel to clinical sites in the Twin Cities metro, as needed.
    Knowledge of medical terminology
    CITI training for biomedical research teams

Pay Range: $24.52-$28.85/hour ($51,000-$60,000 annual); depending on education/qualifications/experience
