Department Summary The University of North Texas System Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX provides guidance for employees regarding state and federal programs related to equity and non-discrimination in the workplace. Position Overview This position is in the Human Resources Department's Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX (EO), supporting UNT System. The Equal Opportunity & Title IX (EO/TIX) Investigator is responsible for receiving, triaging, and resolving allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and related retaliation. The EO/TIX Investigator will follow policy based on related employment laws (i.e., Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act, the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.). This position conducts formal EO/TIX investigations which include Title IX; delivers EO/TIX training across the various campuses; serves as a hearing officer, hearing panel member, or advisor; and partners with departmental and divisional leaders to issue strategic recommendations on a variety of workplace issues related to policy compliance in a way that supports strategic institutional initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Human Resources, or a related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated formal EO/TIX investigation skills, investigation report writing, and Title IX adjudication and resolution experience. Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations related to EO, ADAAA, FMLA, and DOL programs. Experience with Title IX compliance, sex-based discrimination, and investigation methodology. Strong training development, facilitation, and presentation skills. Problem solving, critical thinking skills, and conflict resolution experience. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently. Fact finding/investigatory skills, precision listening ability, analytical ability, and independent decision making related to applicable laws and policies. Knowledge of state and federally mandated reporting requirements. Serves on various committees, task forces, focus groups, special projects, etc. Preferred Qualifications Extensive understanding of nondiscrimination laws, retaliation, and equal opportunity and Title IX compliance regulations. Experience serving in a Title IX role (Coordinator, Deputy, Hearing Officer, Hearing Panelist, Advisor, etc.). Experience with compliance reports and a thorough knowledge of modifications and disability accommodations. Experience writing EO and Title IX policies and procedures. Basic human resources generalist knowledge. Knowledge of Case IQ or other case management systems. Required License/Registration/Certifications n/a Job Duties
