Position Summary

The School of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in healthcare administration to begin in August 10, 2026. This is a full-time, tenured/tenure-track position in healthcare administration. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (including PhD, DrPH, DHA and equivalent terminal degrees) in health administration, health services research, management, health informatics, or another relevant field by August 10, 2026. For best consideration, all application materials must be received by January 1, 2026.

Applications must demonstrate evidence of educational excellence and leadership potential for associate professor applicants. The new faculty member will teach courses for students in the Master of Health Administration program, supervise master's students, and contribute to core, required graduate courses. Teaching areas of interest include healthcare management, quality, operations management, strategic management, health information technology, health economics, and/or healthcare marketing. Preferred qualification will be given to applicants who can teach across several of these areas of interest. There will also be the opportunity to teach in the Master of Public Administration Program and at the undergraduate level.


Qualifications

Minimum

1. A doctoral degree (including PhD, DrPH, DHA and equivalent terminal degrees) in health administration, health services research, management, health informatics, or another relevant field by August 10, 2026.

2. Evidence of specialization in healthcare administration with a particular focus on healthcare management, quality, operations management, strategic management, health information technology, health economics, and/or healthcare marketing.

Preferred

1. Demonstrated strength in teaching areas such as healthcare management, quality, operations management, strategic management, health information technology, health economics, and/or healthcare marketing, as evidenced through the submitted CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and references, with highest priority given to applicants who can teach across several of these areas of interest.

2. Demonstrated strength in teaching online at the graduate level, as evidenced through the submitted CV, cover letter, and references.

3. Demonstrated potential to develop research programs and publications, as evidenced through the submitted CV.

4. Skilled at bridging theory/academic research to applied healthcare delivery contexts as evidenced by CV, current or future research given in the statement of research interests and references.

5. Ability to mentor diverse students at the graduate level, as evidenced through the submitted CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and/or references.

6. Demonstrated expertise in program leadership as evidenced through the submitted CV, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research interests, and references.

7. Ability or potential for obtaining extramural funding to support research and teaching as evidenced through the submitted CV, statement of research interests, and references.

8. A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities as evidenced through the submitted CV and/or letters of recommendation.
