The Role

As the company continues to grow we are seeking an In house- Lead Service Engineer to work in our Rochester, NY location. This In house- Lead Service Engineer will determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.

This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities
  • We are seeking a qualified individual who has experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field.

  • Complete training to achieve required certifications and remain current with reoccurring training. Mentor and develop other in-house field engineers.

  • Maintain day to day production according in alignment with the schedule. Monitor work of self and others to ensure productivity and quality goals are achieved.

  • Repair and refresh electromechanical equipment following detailed processes as defined in standard work instructions and service procedures. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist with implementing production changes.

  • Advanced troubleshoot and repair technical problems and systems issues. Support others with more difficult issues.

  • Complete and approve Device History Record documents to maintain traceability and compliance.

  • Report nonconformances, if observed, and assist with taking corrective actions.

  • Maintain all records in accordance with regulatory requirements and company procedures.

The Individual
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or 4 to 6 years of related military experience, is preferred.

  • 6-8 year's experience in clinical laboratory or equivalent experience, including experience with Ortho VITROS and VISION equipment and assays is preferred.

  • A team player that is self-motivated & interacts appropriately with peers, service counterparts and manufacturing is required.

  • The ability to organize and express ideas clearly, verbal and written, in individual or group situations; working effectively is required.

  • Must possess appropriate technical knowledge and be able to use that knowledge to effectively perform required job functions with an effective level of competence demonstrating a high degree of knowledge in electro-mechanical, chemistry, computer and/or other related disciplines.Able to mentor and train others.

  • Ability to effectively manage assigned workload within allotted time constraints.

  • Based in Rochester, NY. Ability to co-travel with Field Engineers up to 10% for ongoing training.

  • This candidate must have the ability to lift 75 lbs.

The Key Working Relationships
  • Internal Partners: Equipment Manufacturing Operators, Quality Engineers, Field Engineers, Customer Service, Warehouse personnel

  • External Partners: Material Suppliers and Customers

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to lift 75lbs. Travel with Field Engineers up to 10% of the time for ongoing training. Regularly disassembling laboratory equipment, cleaning it per validated process and reassembling accordingly. May occasionally handle chemicals for use in final release testing of laboratory analyzers to customers.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $130,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
