Now, we're looking for a Tax Manager who's ready to bring their expertise, energy, and strategic mindset to a high-impact role on our finance team. *This role is based in Hanover, PA requiring a hybrid schedule, 2 days per week in office. Why This Role Matters: The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all tax-related functions for the Company. This includes ensuring compliance with all direct and indirect federal, state, and local tax regulations, developing and implementing tax strategies. The Tax Manager works closely with the finance, accounting, and legal departments to support business objectives. What You'll Do:
- Manage quarterly federal, state and local estimated payments, tax distributions, and annual tax compliance completed via outside firm.
- Prepare and maintain taxable income workpapers, including state apportionment calculations, for quarterly federal, state and local estimated payments, tax distributions, and annual tax compliance.
- Participate in planning initiatives, particularly items with tax compliance considerations.
- Involvement with quarterly accounting for income taxes and transfer pricing compliance.
- Prepare and maintain non-income tax obligations and their annual budgets, including but not limited to sales and use tax, Goods and Services Tax ("GST"), and personal and real property tax.
- Coordination with outside firms on sales and use tax and personal property tax refund studies, and real estate tax appeal opportunities.
- Manage and facilitate tax audits, inquiries, and notices from various tax authorities, including the IRS.
- Prepare and facilitate tax registrations, annual reports, and business licenses.
- Serve as a technical resource for more complex payroll items such as nonqualified deferred and equity compensation.
- Monitor tax compliance in the disbursements function, including Form(s) 1099, W-9, and W-8BEN-E.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the business, and conduct tax research to support the Company's tax positions.
What You Bring:
- Education: Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field, Master's degree in Taxation (MST) is a plus.
- Experience: 6+ years of tax experience (Big 4, regional accounting firm, or large corporate environment preferred)
- Credentials: CPA required
- Skills:
- Detail and deadline-oriented with proven time management skills.
- Highly organized and able to coordinate multiple complex projects.
- Superior communication skills to communicate with Utz Stakeholders.
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, and OneStream a plus.
- Experience with tax software such as Thompson Reuters OneSource and CSC Corptax a plus.
