The Position

East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking motivated Human Resources Interns for this Part-time (PT) position (up to two years max pending approval) in its Diversity and Inclusion Office (DIO). EBMUD, headquartered in Oakland, is an environmentally progressive, publicly owned utility providing drinking water service to approximately 1.4 million customers in 20 cities and 16 unincorporated communities in portions of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and wastewater treatment services for more than 650,000 customers in the East Bay.

College undergraduate and graduate students or recent graduates with an interest in Human Resources and Workforce Development are encouraged to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to intern with EBMUD's DIO team. The schedule is adjustable depending on academic status. Students may work part-time during the academic year and may transition to full-time during summer and school breaks; recent graduates may work up to a full-time schedule for a limited duration.

Under the direction of the Senior HR Analysts and/or Manager of Diversity and Inclusion in the DIO, Human Resources Interns will assist with tasks such as:

Internship Program Coordination

*Assist in supporting the District's sponsored and direct internship programs.

*Conduct initial review and screening of intern applications for eligibility and placement.

*Develop, support, facilitate intern program orientations, training sessions, and other intern activities.

*Track internship program participation and maintain program documentation and filing system.

Recruitment, Marketing, and Outreach

*Support EBMUD's long-term workforce development goals by coordinating scheduling/attendance for career readiness events and community events.

*Prepare outreach kits and manage inventory of promotional materials.

*Develop and edit DIO marketing materials such as flyers, digital content, and social media posts.

*Assist with event planning tasks for in-person outreach events, and technical support for hosting virtual events.

*Attend outreach events to represent EBMUD and support DIO staff.

Data Management and Reporting

*Collect, enter, verify workforce, internships, and other program data for accuracy.

*Assist with analyzing and summarizing data for reports on internship and workforce development programs.

*Support staff with reviewing and compiling data for annual compliance and program evaluations.

Administrative and Program Support

*Manage the DIO internships inbox and respond to inquiries within 24 hours.

*Provide administrative support in reviewing workplans/budget for EBMUD Affinity Groups.

*Research information and draft correspondence, reports, or presentations.

*Assist in reviewing and editing program documents such as policies, procedures, and guidelines.

*Order and maintain office supplies; organize DIO supply closets and outreach storage areas.

*Support staff in completing event-related work set-up (room reservations, etc.), work orders and help desk tickets.

*Update DIO internal intranet sites with new information and events.

*Create and maintain digital filing system.

Requirements

1.Current college enrollment as a senior; OR

2.Recent graduation from a four-year college; OR

3.Current enrollment in a graduate program, AND

4.Completion of an EBMUD internship, college internship, or some public or private human resource, training, or youth development work experience comparable to EBMUD's Human Resources Intern I.
