JOB SUMMARY Core Lab is seeking an Engineering Technician for our ProTechnics division. This role involves hands-on work in building, assembling, testing, calibrating, and maintaining electronic and mechanical equipment. The technician will diagnose failures, qualify components, and suggest design improvements. Responsibilities include bench and oven testing, high-temperature soldering, and using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and assemble electronic circuit boards according to specifications.
  • Assemble various tools and equipment required for operations.
  • Perform bench and oven testing to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Conduct repair and maintenance of both mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Test and qualify components to verify functionality and reliability.
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve equipment failures.
  • Provide recommendations for design improvements based on testing and analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering required; Bachelor's preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience)
  • Experience in diagnostics, repair, calibration, and temperature testing
  • Oil field industry experience is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.)
  • Strong soldering skills (SMT hand soldering); IPC certification preferred
  • Familiarity with mechanical tools (drill press, lathe, mill)
  • Solid troubleshooting and deductive reasoning abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes. The employee may also be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
