About the Team

The Nutrition Services team at Lakewood Senior Campus is dedicated to providing residents and customers with nutritious, appealing, and safely prepared meals. The team works collaboratively to ensure meals meet dietary requirements, support resident health, and foster a welcoming dining experience within a clean, efficient, and compassionate environment.

Position Summary

The Assistant Cook assists in meal preparation, service, and kitchen maintenance under the direction of the Cook. This role ensures timely and accurate food production, maintains cleanliness, and follows established safety and dietary guidelines. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and portioning assigned meal components following standardized recipes.
• Assisting with meal plating, tray assembly, and service to residents and customers.
• Maintaining proper food temperatures and documenting records as required.
• Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Practicing safe food handling, storage, and rotation.
• Supporting special events and catering as directed.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
• Participating in departmental meetings and ongoing education.

Position Type

This is a part-time position working 56 hours per pay period (0.7FTE). Hours are 10:45am - 7:15pm. Weekend and holiday rotation is required.

Ideal Candidate

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• ServSafe Certification
• Foundational culinary skills with a desire to grow
• Experience with therapeutic or special diets
• Familiarity with healthcare or long-term care kitchen settings
• Demonstrates reliability and attention to detail in food preparation and service
• Communicates effectively and works collaboratively within a team environment
• Maintains composure and efficiency in a fast-paced kitchen setting
• Exhibits commitment to cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
• Shows enthusiasm for supporting residents' well-being through quality nutrition
