The Proposal Writer is responsible for developing written content in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Market Surveys, internal corporate materials, and customer documentation (as required). This role supports multiple complex proposals and documents across ten diverse organizations and requires exceptional communications, organizational, and time management skills. * Review RFPs, technical and contractual documents, and other background material to understand the requirements and technical scope. Prepare questions and identify information or material needed to create the appropriate response.* Attend strategy and kickoff meetings to fully understand the purpose of the RFP, the requirements and expectations of the customer and the team, and the subject matter of the document. * Research, analyze, and collect data in support of writing assignments. * Conduct research on industry topics, as well as research on competitive advantages, company analysis, relevant federal regulations, etc. * Meet with internal and external senior-level professionals and subject matter experts to generate new content and organize existing content into a compelling response. * Acquire content from subject matter experts and team members, formulating clear and compelling responses, translating content and customer needs into effective messaging. * Compose and edit materials for new business pursuits, including proposals, presentations, white papers, and RFIs. * Develop and write RFIs and solution-based proposals in response to customer requests, supporting from Capture through Interview to Editing stage as needed. * Lead development of data calls to teaming partners/subcontractors. * Design/write/edit tables, matrices, past performance descriptions, cover letters, and resumes for proposals. * Customize/tailor already developed content for specific customer requirements. * Work within stringent timeframes to meet proposal deadlines, ensure the final documents are complete as set forth in the RFP, and ensure the document is well organized and professionally presented. * Comply with all solicitation requirements. Understand and adhere to page and space limits and other format requirements in the RFP for the response. * Develop content for corporate documents such as press releases, articles for the S&K Newsletter, and marketing materials, when needed. * Support current contracts and special projects as needed. * Assist with proposal coordination activities such as color team reviews and developing matrices for capabilities and compliance. * Perform other related duties as required by the Bid and Proposal Group Director. Experience: * Minimum of 5 years' experience in Technical Writing, preferably in Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Government acquisitions/solicitations* Experience writing technical proposal responses * Understanding of the Federal Government Procurement process and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) * Foundational knowledge of proposal best practices and procedures * Experience using generative AI writing tools for market research and contact development in the RFI and proposal process a plus * Experience with the Aerospace Industry including general aviation, logistics, maintenance, repair and return of parts, Third Party Logistics (TPL) and supply chain management * In-depth knowledge and working experience with U.S. Government solicitations, Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and RFP documents * Technical Order/Technical Data experience a plus Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or other field of study requiring superior written communication skills Special knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Ability to read and interpret documents such as RFPs, regulations, and policies.* This position requires the ability to write effectively, develop content, and edit already developed content. * Outstanding communicator. * Consummate professional with exceptional time management and organizational skills. * A stable yet progressive track record of exceptional performance and achievement. * Superior strategic thinker, writer, and conceptual organizer, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of tactics, action, and attention to detail to an exceptional level. * A strategist who understands the proposal process including solution design (themes, discriminators, features, benefits, ghosts), competitive intelligence, black hat, and other sophisticated aspects of competing on bids and proposals at the highest levels. * Ability to work both independently, as well as in a team. * Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people who possess a variety of skills and experience. * Working knowledge of computers, software (Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe), and general office equipment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word required. Knowledge of Government solicitation websites (e.g., FedBizOps, GovWin, SeaPort-e) and experience with Microsoft SharePoint required. * Experience with artificial intelligence software prompting a plus. * Experience with construction bids a plus.
