We are particularly interested in applicants with research that provides direct synergy with our existing strengths in Earth surface and environmental processes, climate and cryospheric science, and Earth and planetary history. Particular attention will be given to qualified candidates who combine a focus on understanding fundamental processes with state-of-the-art laboratory and/or field research programs that complement and contribute to ongoing research activities in the Department as well as in Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine and Thayer School of Engineering. Teaching responsibilities consist of three courses spread over four, ten-week terms. The teaching assignment for this position includes both an introductory Earth Science course and an upper-level course on environmental isotope geochemistry or geobiology. To create an atmosphere supportive of research, Dartmouth offers faculty members grants for research-related expenses, a quarter of sabbatical leave for each three academic years in residence, and flexible scheduling of teaching responsibilities. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are supported by the Guarini School for Graduate and Advanced Studies, including their community initiatives.
