Position Purpose
Under general direction from the Athletics Facility and Events staff, this position assists with and performs duties needed for the execution of athletic contests and internal events.
Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse community, including coaches, administrators, faculty, vendors, and visitors.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic mechanical or electrical skills and familiarity with tools.
  • Knowledge of or interest in sports and athletics operations.


Working Conditions


  • Work requires bending, kneeling, climbing and working in cramped or awkward positions.
  • Regular lifting, carrying, and holding objects weighing from 25 to 150 lbs.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors, including cold, wet, and slippery ice-surface environments, as well as in noisy, dusty, or dirty conditions.
  • Exposure to hazards such as electrical shock, burns, cuts, and exhaust fumes, mitigated by proper use of personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, goggles, masks, ear protection).
  • Events may extend beyond scheduled hours; flexibility to accommodate occasional shift overruns is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Zamboni experience (training can be provided).
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule
Primarily responsible for night shifts in the Ice Rink from 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m., Wednesday through Sunday, October to April. Schedule is subject to change based on event needs and operational requirements.

Key Accountabilities




Key Accountabilities

  • Operates the Zamboni for ice maintenance and ensures proper resurfacing during and between practices or games.
  • Maintains associated equipment, spectator seating, protective glass surrounding the rink, cabling system, ice-making equipment, etc.
  • Assists with event setups, teardowns, and various support roles during athletic competitions.
  • Ensures compliance with facility safety procedures, event protocols, and departmental standards.
