What you'll do The Engineering security team is responsible for reducing risk across the wide range of applications and platforms that make up our ground segment. Specifically, our Automation and Ops team os responsible for: Working with other software teams to ensure they meet security requirements Writing and reviewing security automation for critical procedures Auditing configuration and logs to ensure compliance and identify problems Collaborating with architects on elements of system design Refactoring legacy systems to reduce technical debt Developing innersource libraries and operating software services to fill gaps Staying ahead of new developments and advisories from the security community The day-to-day Our day to day experience is always changing. You can expect to work on multiple projects, all of which may involve: Crafting security automation software Testing integrations with other APIs, CICD platforms and deployment environments Meeting with other application teams to review configuration Triaging and investigating alerts from automated systems Additional Information: This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility. This program is designed to support your transition from university to the workplace through dedicated mentorship, building relationships with your cohort of new grad hires, technical upskilling, soft skills development and more to ensure you're set up for success as you begin your professional journey with Viasat Viasat offers the following pre-determined start date options for incoming US Early Career hires: Monday, February 2, 2026 Monday, July 13, 2026 Monday, August 3, 2026 Monday, September 7, 2026 What you'll need Requirements: Education: Completion of Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science or related field Experience: This role is intended for someone with 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience Additional: Some knowledge of security fundamentals and the "secure by design" philosophy Critical thinking skills A willingness to question, collaborate and learn What will help you on the job Previous Viasat internship experience Systems and networking experience Experience with CICD platforms (jenkins, github actions, etc) Experience with container systems (docker, kubernetes) Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills Salary range $82,500.00 - $129,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $102,000.00- $153,000.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
