The R&D team in the Genetic Perturbation Platform at the Broad Institute is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our group as a Research Associate II. Our group develops and pressure-tests the latest approaches in functional genomics, especially CRISPR technology, and then uses these tools to collaborate with researchers across many biological areas to discover the functions of genes and understand how gene dysfunction leads to disease.

This position offers a unique opportunity to be a lead contributor to cutting-edge technology development with widespread impact across the Broad community and the world. We are committed to mentoring research associates to further their skills and have a strong history of ensuring that RAs take lead roles in publications, give presentations, attend conferences, and ultimately position themselves for the next step in their careers, whether in graduate school, medical school, industry, or through a longer tenure at the Broad.

Characteristic Duties:

  • Molecular biology techniques such as plasmid cloning, DNA purification, and PCR
  • Mammalian cell culture, including lentiviral transduction and flow cytometry
  • Large-scale genetic screens with CRISPR-Cas technologies
  • Data analysis using Python and internal computational tools
  • Preparation of figures for presentations and manuscripts

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to creatively problem solve
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in staying with the group for at least two years

The expected base salary range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
