Job Description

Job Summary:


Performs divisional support for networks, servers, personal computers, operational technology and helpdesk.


Responsible for software patch and firmware patch maintenance. Responsible for maintaining equipment server and personal computer equipment as well as upgrading based on company policy. Job duties may include internal phone system, VoIP and cell phone support. Duties include all aspects of operational technology support for the business / manufacturing where equipment and data are interfaced with the computer network and or system infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring system resources are administered and allocated while adhering to the company policies and procedures.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Specification Development - responsible for working with the business to develop the specifications of the project or task; including details of business rules and needs, overall design, tasks and logical flow.
  • Testing - responsible for designing, performing and documenting appropriate tests for the operating system, hardware or software upgrades on the project to ensure error free deployment into production.
  • Update, migrate or deploy systems to production in a documented and error free fashion.
  • Documentation Development - responsible for documenting computer network and communications per company policy and procedures, maintaining various system or network flows and process maps; developing and maintaining operational procedures, recovery procedures and user documentation.
  • Analysis and Problem Resolution - responsible for supporting the business and IT areas supporting application problem resolution, equipment malfunction or network / communication problems.
  • Train personnel in user departments in any specific procedures necessary to use their assigned equipment effectively.
  • Maintain technology expertise in an ever evolving technical landscape.
  • Assist Information Systems Management with technical expertise on any special projects as directed.



Job Skills & Abilities:



  • Experience moving applications and databases between servers.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize business needs, analyze requests, recommend solid technical solutions, and lead in delivering the solution
  • Strong problem solving skills, and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of clients, team members, managers, and subject matter experts. (SME)
  • Ability to plan and organize projects as needed.
  • Provide periodic project updates and report out to management and team lead.
  • Rotating on-call support schedule during business and or non-business hours


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred; related field certification or equivalent work experience acceptable
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field of work
  • Work experience with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Past experience working with projects from conception to completion with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working experience with Virtual Machines (VM), setup and configuration
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Working experience setting up and repairing servers (Windows and or Linux)
  • Strong working knowledge of network administration - CCNA,CCNP,CCDA or any networking centric certs preferred

    • Working knowledge of IBM i operating system considered a plus






Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to travel as needed (occasional).
  • Must be able to physically move, lift and install computers, servers, network equipment and peripherals. (50lbs.)
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and lift
