Job Overview

The Ophthalmic Tech - Certified will be responsible for conducting technical and administrative patient support activities that assist the professional staff (Ophthalmologist, Orthoptist, Residents, etc.) in administering the healthcare and support needed for patients and families in the outpatient ophthalmic clinic. The Ophthalmic Tech will work under the Children's Hospital Colorado professional and behavior standards.

Department: North Campus Eye Clinic
Job Details: 1.0 FTE; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
Shift Details: Monday - Friday from 8am - 4:30pm. No holidays or weekend.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Gather patient information and review medical records.
  • Utilize medical record system to update patient information and medical record.
  • Administer diagnostic tests.
  • Prepare and administer eye medications.
  • Provide eye care and contact lens information to patient.
  • Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments.
  • Assist providers in basic patient procedures.
  • Responsible for maintenance of pediatric ophthalmology clinics, which include maintaining files, stocking exam rooms, maintaining exam room equipment and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • May conduct phone triage for follow up or current patients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED

  • Experience
    • Required:One (1) year of experience.

  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Basic Life Support
    • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
    • Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist
    • Certified Ophthalmic Tech
  • Additional Requirements
    • Variety of licenses acceptable Certified Ophthalmic Medical Tech (COMT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $25.95 to $38.93
