We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for our Monroe, NC facility. This is an onsite position Monday - Friday. The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for accurately processing and troubleshooting invoices and for processing a wide variety of time sensitive vendor invoices for payment according to and within the guidelines of the Oracle Payables System ensuring maximized discounts and minimized overpayments. This role will also investigate and resolve all payment discrepancies on vendor accounts and analyze vendor complaints. The Accounts Payable Specialist will also play an integral role in analyzing the current business process and assisting in the implementation of process improvements.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Process employee expense report audits.
  • Process freight batch research and coding.
  • Prepare vendor invoices on a timely basis to maximize payment discounts.
  • Validate charges and prepare related vouchers and adjustments.
  • Coordinate A/P information with vendors and other departments.
  • Process checks/EFT's for payment.
  • Enter and maintain computerized data.
  • Prepare preliminary payment information.
  • Initiate and complete month-end closing.
  • Open, sort, and distribute mail.
  • Perform duties necessary to process purchase order items for payment, including raw material and inter-company accounts payables.
  • Follow-up on non-matching items appearing on A/P suspense listing.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to identify and act on opportunities for more efficiency, elimination of waste, and team collaboration.

Basic Qualifications



  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of three years of related experience in accounting.


Preferences/Skills/Abilities



  • Two-year accounting degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial software (preferably Oracle) and general office procedures including experience in MS Office required.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math computations, show strong attention to detail and work with superior accuracy.
  • Must be a team player who is able to maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Demonstrated specialized skills in job related functions and serves as a knowledgeable resource for the department.
  • Ability to exercise analytical skills, judgment and decision making in the identification and resolution of errors.
