Position Summary

Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive student life framework to include the following programming: educational, curricular, co-curricular, experiential, civic engagement, leadership development, and engaging student activities. Coordinate and guide the development and operational activities of student organizations. Foster a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for students that promotes student learning, academic success, personal growth, and connection to campus life. Develop and implement long-range and short-term planning for the Student Life program to meet current and future needs of all students.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-range and short-term planning for the Student Life program to meet current and future needs of all students. Evaluate and implement quality improvements of all student life initiatives annually
  • Serve as Primary Advisor to the Club Council and the Student Government Association, including facilitation of SGA and Student Trustee elections
  • Develop and implement appropriate procedures and supervise the planning, organizing, and implementing of student clubs and organizations to include recruiting, selecting, training, and evaluating advisors and officers
  • Organize and implement campus-wide student leadership efforts
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, and daily direction to the departmental student employees
  • Oversee the MCC Mascot, including recruitment, selection, and scheduling
  • Develop and execute the college-wide Student Leadership Development program
  • Support campus wide retention initiatives
  • Assist students in need by connecting them to appropriate campus resources
  • Facilitate community and campus partnerships for student volunteer and civic engagement opportunities, which include days of service, awareness events, and monitoring of service hours
  • Develop guidelines and arrange logistics for off-campus activities to ensure the safety of students and integrity of college actions
  • Develop, direct, and supervise campus-wide activities such as lectures, entertainers, wellness programming, and activities for a culturally diverse population; coordinate scheduling, facilities arrangements, marketing, and other logistics
  • Serve as a resource, contact, and support regarding student activities and student leadership opportunities on campus and ensure appropriate supervision during student events
  • Develop and coordinate large scale events devoted to engaging our students and creating a sense of belonging
  • Collaborate and assist to provide wellness programming for students to include mental health awareness programming, STD testing, glucose screenings, blood drives, etc.
  • Coordinate the scheduling, marketing, and training materials for the E-portfolio each semester
  • Facilitate weekly production of the "Flush" student newsletter
  • Serve as Co-Curricular Director to the Skyway Conference
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of the Student Life, Student Club and Organizations, and Student Government budgets, and for purchasing supplies to support operations
  • Facilitate the student ID process
  • Maintain required records and documentation; prepare and submit annual reports related to retention and success of programs and initiatives sponsored and lead by Student Life
  • Develop and maintain a process for monitoring the retention and success of all student activities and initiatives to include evaluating and monitoring programs and policies
  • Assist in planning and implementing of the Student Awards Ceremony and any other student recognition programs
  • Assist with Winter and Spring commencement ceremonies: planning meetings, facilitate the selection of the Student Commencement Speaker for each commencement ceremony, and facilitate the commencement rehearsal
  • Serve as an MCC representative for community organizations/events (ex. Blood Drive, STD testing facilitated by the Department of Health, etc.)
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop programs to supplement in-class learning
  • Serve on College committees and teams as appropriate
  • Actively collaborate with other campus stakeholders to offer student diversity initiatives and trainings related to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, and Inclusion
  • Work collaboratively with others (e.g., colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Two years' experience coordinating student support programs or student activities in higher education
