SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Carpenter position in our Facilities Management department. This full-time position will work Monday thru Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm.
Under direction, an employee in this job class performs work of moderate difficulty in the building, installation, repair, and alteration of a variety of building structures, articles, and items of equipment. Also supports the physical security of the hospital by installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of locking systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completes corrective and preventive work orders to maintain the structural integrity and aesthetic appearance of the facility
  • Builds, maintains, and repairs cabinets, counters, shelves, desks, tables, and miscellaneous furniture
  • Installs plastic laminates
  • Replaces and/or repairs door checks and a variety of locks, latches, and hinges
  • Alters and repairs a variety of building structures such as walls, partitions, doorways, window casings, stairways and roofs
  • Installs and maintains curtain rods
  • Installs flooring
  • Applies wall covering materials, installs plastic and other varieties of tile
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair building life safety features to include fire and smoke barriers, fire doors, smoke doors, and protective finishes to ensure they meet The Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety Code standards
  • Control and completes issued paperwork for Environment of Care corrections
  • Completes small renovation, millwork, and construction projects in compliance with county and building codes
  • Install doors with hardware
  • Installs all types of ceilings to include drywall, metal pan, and acoustical ceiling tile and grid systems
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of locking systems to include cipher locks, master lock key systems, card reader lock systems and delay egress hardware
  • Cuts new keys for new and existing locks
  • Changes cores of keyed lock systems as required
  • Maintains a record of all keys made
  • Maintain and repair all door assemblies to ensure integrity of the locking mechanism
  • Maintain supplies, spare parts and tool inventory

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited carpenter's apprenticeship program
OR
  • An approved combination of experience and education
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commercial carpentry experience
