Salary range:
See Salary Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $70,977 to $75,301. Percent appointments may vary.
Percent time:
Positions may range from 11% to 100% time.
Anticipated start:
Winter quarter service dates start January 5th, 2026 and end March 20th, 2026. Spring quarter service dates start March 30th, 2025 and end June 12th, 2025. Summer sessions A and B vary.
Review timeline:

Position description

The Department of Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a pool of qualified Lecturers to teach courses in Political Science for upcoming openings. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed with the possibility of future reappointment based on performance and department need. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department. Positions may range from 11% to 100% time.

The part time position(s) are for one or more courses in the subfields of American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, and Quantitative Methods.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The minimum requirement to be considered an applicant is the completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. except the dissertation (ABD status) in Political Science or a closely related field, at the time of application. A minimum of one year teaching experience at the University or college level is required.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

PhD must be completed by start date of appointment.
