The Role:

We are looking for our next Environmental, Health, and Safety Technician within our Environmental, Health, and Safety Team. The Environmental, Health, and Safety Technician will be responsible for managing, improving, tracking, consult and maintain programs, initiatives and engagement related to site safety, health, environmental, and site security to protect employees and the environment as well as support compliance with local, state and federal regulations. This role will have primary responsibilities to support and lead the site's EH&S programs.

This position is located in Newark, Delaware.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $31-$41/hr. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Accurately maintains Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) hard copy and electronic recordkeeping.
  • Provides training coordination using company software tools. This includes training scheduling, course and quiz development, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Provide administrative support to the Site Contract Administrator. Will maintain training records, coordinate contractor vetting using ISN, update contractor status spreadsheet, maintain vendor electronic files, and track hours of operation.
  • Provide administrative support for medical surveillance program. (Maintain spreadsheets, distribute paperwork, schedule appointments). Manage safety glasses and footwear program.
  • Coordinates safety milestone, initiative, and recognition programs.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheet system and inventory.
  • Enter and track documentation for Behavioral Based Safety Program
  • Manage tracking of safety and housekeeping programs and closure of action items.
  • Contact for First Aid Supply vendor. Perform AED inspections.
  • Order EH&S supplies and services.
  • Assists in administration of the site's security badge system.
  • Facilitate development and implementation of site's annual EH&S Continuous Improvement plan.
  • Support implementation and maintaining of the site's EH&S policies that define requirements to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate EH&S standards.
  • Develop and implement improvements to safety systems to ensure compliance with requirements and continued improvement in EH&S performance.
  • Organize, lead, and participate in activities that promote employee ownership and engagement in EH&S.
  • Participate and support the site's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party EH&S audit programs.
  • Actively participate in PHA, PSSR, MOC, RCA work processes as leader, coordinator and/or participant as needed.
  • Manage site incident investigation system, ensuring proper classification, thorough root cause investigations and appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence are implemented.
  • Create "one-pagers" and communicate key learnings from events at the site and from the broader company network events.
  • Learnings shared with on-site personnel as well as sharing with the broader company network.
  • Provide in-plant support to site leadership, operators, mechanics, contractors, and technical staff to ensure proper safety evaluation is performed and work is completed within requirements.
  • Complete routine field line walks (observe and engage) to provide recognition, coaching, collaboration, and training.
  • Assist in development and communication of EH&S KPls (leading/lagging) on plant dashboards.
  • Gather data and maintain systems to track necessary information for internal safety, health and environmental reporting and to drive improvement in EH&S performance.
  • Support all environmental regulatory programs such as Air Quality (Title V), Stormwater management, waste management, Community RTK, and local POTW pretreatment program.
  • Support and contributes to required submissions for regulatory compliance on time and in full for proper submission to regulatory authorities - Title V, Annual Emission Inventory, Tier Il, Discharge Monitoring Report, et. al.
  • Ensure EH&S training is effective in sharing safety know-how needed to achieve world class safe operations.
  • Participate and work with the site EH&S committee to accomplish EH&S objectives and to maintain continued compliance with all requirements. Provide coaching at all levels of the organization.
  • Assist EHS Manager with case management, working closely with site leadership and business level occupational health professionals and the offsite clinic to manage injuries to the most positive case outcomes. Ensure proper injury, illness classifications and OSHA record keeping is completed.
  • Maintain EH&S operating discipline.

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related safety or environmental field is required.

Experience:

  • Must have at least five or more years EH&S experience.
  • Demonstrated EH&S functional/technical expertise with strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory filings for manufacturing operations.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated ability to influence teams and resolve conflicts in support of organizational goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively, professionally and respectfully in a team-based environment to involve peers, customers, line management and technical competency experts.
  • Experience with organizational culture change/development.
  • Demonstrated data management and analytical skills.
  • Must possess and/or demonstrate leadership competencies and behaviors (either through direct reports or project management/matrix environment).
  • Hazardous waste manifesting experience or willingness to complete training;
  • Demonstrated understanding and awareness of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong understanding of EHS principles and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to read, spell, comprehend, and perform and apply basic math skills;
  • Excellent computer aptitude, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Computer skills - Email, SAP, Word Processing, Spreadsheets;
  • Self-directed and self-motivated;
  • Must possess strong communication and influencing skills utilizing courage and integrity;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred;
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45000 preferred.

Work Environment

  • This role spends approximately 30% of the time in an office environment and 70% of the time in the plant environment.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and flexible hours of work are required to meet facility demands.
