About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to support our Technology team as an Enterprise Architect based in Shelton, CT. The primary role of the Enterprise Architect is to develop and promote the company's target enterprise architecture, which must be designed to support and enable the business strategies. Our Enterprise Architects work with IT decision makers and the business to influence how IT plans and executes change on behalf of the business. Lead aspects of the Enterprise Architecture team for the Technology department, managing a wide variety of IT and business services and ensuring that the direction of the Technology department is aligned with the business.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Drive enterprise-wide technology strategy and architecture for Subway's global Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) business, aligning solutions with business objectives and future vision.
- Possess strong individual contributor capability with proven experience influencing large-scale initiatives across complex technology landscapes.
- Demonstrate deep expertise and passion for applied AI, with ability to design practical AI solutions and articulate a broader strategic vision for adoption across the enterprise.
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint covering applications, data, infrastructure, and integration layers.
- Define future-state reference architectures, standards, best practices, and starter code to accelerate delivery for technology teams.
- Evaluate market trends, emerging technologies, and execute buy vs. build decisions considering cost, scalability, and business impact.
- Lead end-to-end solution design ensuring technical feasibility, interoperability, and alignment with business requirements.
- Oversee integration of diverse systems and applications within the QSR ecosystem for seamless data flow and optimized processes.
- Continuously assess and optimize system performance to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and drive alignment toward common goals.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architects, developers, and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Build strong relationships across the organization to influence and enable technology solutions that deliver measurable business value.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required in Computer Science or related; Masters Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of professional experience as a developer and/or manager in an Application, Systems, Database, or Integration Team in different industries e.g. Omni-channel digital, HQ/enterprise, or B2B/partner-facing ecosystem.
- 5+ years of experience working with system architecture from legacy, on-premise, web, cloud, and modern as-a-service with foundational technologies, and multiple (1,000s) outlets.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, including consulting and general industry experience.
- 3+ Years of Experience Managing Staff preferred.
- Advanced level production-proven technical competency in one of the major enterprise development platforms (.NET, Java, etc.).
- Advanced level System Architecture and Design skills and experience.
- Advanced level Systems Integration skills and experience.
- Advanced interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate abstract concepts in verbal, written, and visual forms at most levels in the organization.
- Ability to translate technical information into business language and concepts.
- Ability to effectively collaborate in a geographically distributed environment.
- A well-developed understanding of and appreciation for organizational mission, values, and goals and consistent application of this knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technology strategies that support IT and business strategies.
- Experience identifying, analyzing, and proposing IT investment opportunities.
- Experience in the discovery, analysis, and application of industry trends.
- Effective at working with external partners and vendors.
