Assistant Swim Coach Coach/Aquatic Coordinator:

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists the Head Coach and Assists Aquatic Director in supervision of the Casey Swim Center. Acts within the scope of authority and consistent with the college objectives, guidelines, policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists Head Coach to organize/conduct practice sessions.

2. Assists Head Coach in recruiting student-athletes.

3. Assists in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes through academic advising and referrals.

4. Assumes responsibility for enforcing training rules and monitoring the conduct of student- athletes when representing Washington College both on and off campus.

5. Assists Head Coach to recommend athletes for awards.

6. Ensures institutional compliance of the program by adhering to all policies and procedures of the NCAA, Centennial Conference and individual sport organizations.

7. Responsible for other details of the sport or any assignment by the Athletic Director or Head Coach.

8. Driving vans to away contests when needed.

9. Supervision of facility: Knowing who is in the facility and equipment at all times and being able to react in an emergency situation.

10. Meet set up and take down: college and high school.

11. Vacuum pool once a week or when needed.

12. Daily pool testing as required by the Health Department, and adjust when required.

13. Establish weekly guard schedules, evaluate, and discipline.

14. Inservice training of staff once a semester for emergency situations.

15. Needs to understand the aquatic programs to answer questions the public

might have about: membership, pool hours, aquatic programs.

16. Responsible for the facility when Head Coach is on the road or on vacation.

17. Weekly checklist of safety equipment and the facility.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:

1. Indoors in a temperature-controlled environment

2. Outdoors exposed to weather.

3. Frequent van and car driving responsibilities.

4. May occasionally require the incumbent to perform tasks that can expose you to blood or blood borne pathogens. Federal regulations require that the incumbent be offered Hepatitis B vaccine within 10 days of initial assignment and attend a training session prior to performing any exposure-prone tasks.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

1. Hours to be determined by the head coach and must be documented bi-weekly.

2. Weeknights and weekends frequently required.
