 The Food Service Assistant (FSA) assists the Food & Nutrition Services Supervisor (FNSS) to ensure breakfast, lunch, and snack services rendered at St. Joseph Academy (SJA) are consistent with accepted national food handling standards, SJA mission and values, the policies and procedures of the institution, and the standards of all regulating and licensing agencies. The FSA performs a variety of food preparation services in the delivery of the SJA children's breakfast, lunch and snack delivery. The FSA performs a variety of sanitary services during all breakfast and lunch services. The FSA is responsible for equipment operations, sanitization; facility cleaning, and trouble shooting in production area to alert management of equipment malfunctions and/or failures. The FSA will fill in for vacation and absences of other Food Service staff.

 High school degree or GED preferredExperience in food service/kitchen preferredSafe Serve Certification required within 6 monthsBilingual in Spanish a plusDemonstrated ability to analyze an issue, identify options, and implement solutionsInterest in working with a child populationAbility to work cooperatively with people in and outside of Food & Nutrition Services departmentAbility to communicate (verbally and in writing); effectively interact with children, families, and staff membersPossesses good hand-eye coordinationAbility to read, write and follow directions and instructionsDetail oriented; ability to multi-task, set priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
