Description

The Housing Locator reports to the Director of the program and is responsible for the development of affordable housing opportunities for Thresholds members by building relationships with landlords and identifying suitable rental apartment units for members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Identifies available rental apartments in the Chicago Metro Area on a continual basis and provides suitable referrals to Thresholds clinical teams to assist in housing members.
  • Follows provider and member specific requirements for housing subsidies including DMH Bridge, CHA Section 8, and other local subsidy resources. Ensures compliance with subsidy-providers and Thresholds procedures for housing members.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with clinical teams on apartment referrals. Assist teams with specific landlord and leasing issues as needed.
  • Maintains, strengthens and builds new working relationships with area housing providers. Advocates for members by furnishing information to housing providers regarding Thresholds programs, experience, and the benefits of renting to members.
  • Manages housing resource data including landlord and housing resources and disseminates to agency program staff to utilize as contacts for housing opportunities.
  • Manages apartment referrals to teams by tracking progress and outcomes.


EDUCATION



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted at supervisor's discretion.


EXPERIENCE



  • Real Estate experience and understanding of the target population (adults with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders) to be served.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the City of Chicago and surrounding suburbs for travel purposes.
  • Basic knowledge of Landlord/Tenant responsibilities.


SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS



  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Daily access to a personal vehicle required.
  • Ability to function in a computer-oriented office. Must have comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including internet and email. Knowledge of or ability to learn other pertinent software products preferred. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required.

  • Competitive pay - Salary Range: $22.25 - $27.16/hour / $47,320 - $56,500 annually
