Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Flight Test Analysis Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in trajectory modeling, simulation, and flight test data analysis in support of MDA flight and ground test missions. This position requires a strong analytical background, proficiency with MATLAB-based tools, and experience working with complex missile defense or aerospace systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute analysis methods to evaluate missile and interceptor IMU/GPS data to generate best-estimate trajectories and verify mission performance.
  • Perform independent verification and validation of Monte Carlo trajectory simulations to ensure accuracy of pre-mission predictions and mission success criteria.
  • Develop and maintain 3DOF/6DOF trajectory models using TAOS or equivalent tools incorporating aerodynamic, mass, and propulsion parameters.
  • Utilize MATLAB and related tools for data analysis, coordinate transformations, gravity modeling, and celestial body tracking.
  • Support pre- and post-test mission analysis activities, providing recommendations and technical briefings to MDA government customers.
  • Collaborate with engineers across MDA and contractor teams to plan, execute, and assess flight and ground test events.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, visualizations, and analysis results to senior leadership and test stakeholders.
  • Support software verification and system integration efforts for test and analysis systems as needed.
  • Ensure analytical methods, tools, and documentation meet MDA technical and security standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related STEM discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience supporting flight test, trajectory analysis, or missile defense programs.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for data processing, statistical analysis, and trajectory simulation.
  • Experience developing and analyzing 3DOF/6DOF simulations and Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Strong understanding of flight dynamics, guidance and control principles, and coordinate frame transformations.
  • Experience interpreting flight test data including telemetry, IMU, and GPS sources.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Active Secret security clearance required (Top Secret eligible).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Direct experience supporting MDA pre- and post-test analysis activities.
  • Familiarity with TAOS, Red Hat Linux, and data analysis tools such as WireShark.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting RF systems and telemetry equipment for test missions.
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (completed or in progress).
  • Experience with THAAD, GMD, or other Missile Defense System elements.
