Position Overview:

Consulting Services Group (CSG) is hiring a Cultural Advisor with expertise in Mexico and Spanish (Mexican dialect) language fluency to join our project team. The candidate will support a broad variety of language-related tasks to include translation of documents, transcription of audio/video materials, and/or interpretation as required by the Program Manager and the customer.

CSG requires a native or heritage-speaking Spanish (Mexican dialect) linguist and cultural expert. The ideal candidate has experience living in Mexico. The candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the cultural differences, nuances, customs, symbolism, mannerisms, and traditions of the various ethnic groups residing throughout Mexico, as well as a fundamental understanding of neighboring countries and cultures.

The cultural advisor will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct unclassified research, evaluate, analyze, and provide recommendations on complex assignments to fuse multi-source products to satisfy a broad range of customer requirements within assigned areas of responsibility.

Candidates will be tested on their language ability and must pass with a minimum Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) score level of 3/3/3 in all three modalities: reading, listening, and speaking. (Note: language proficiency will be verified via language testing.)

Responsibilities:.

  • Analyze, assess, translate, and communicate complex issues clearly in a concise and organized manner both verbally and non-verbally.
    • Documentation: draft requirements documents, correspondence, and standard operating procedures in accordance with local policies.
    • Procedures and Processes: Provide explanations of complex technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Writing: Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
    • Briefing: prepare and present briefings to military, government, and intelligence community stakeholders as directed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in conducting open-source research to produce behavioral analysis of target audiences, social network analysis, and foreign media analysis to generate reports on trends, behaviors, and geopolitical events.
  • Identify information operations opportunities and produce predictive recommendations.
  • Evaluate unclassified critical and sensitive information to understand and characterize target audience behavior and trends.
  • Conduct research to evaluate, analyze, and provide recommendations on complex assignments to fuse multi-source products to satisfy a broad range of customer requirements within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Conduct concurrent interpretation into, from, and between Russian and English.
  • Produce transcriptions of Spanish (Mexican dialect) audio and spoken media.
  • Provide cultural and ethnic context of translations and interpretations to advise supported leadership and organizations on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements (written and aural), conversations, situations, and documents.
  • Prepare presentations and briefings to military, government, and intelligence community stakeholders.
  • Assist content developers with content generation

Qualifications:

Required:

  • U.S. citizenship. Sponsorship for employment-based visas (e.g., H-1B, OPT, Green Card) is not available.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Eligible to pass a Counter-Intelligence Polygraph
  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree. Comparable experience acceptable (no less than 4 years).
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary Mexican culture and society.
  • Demonstrate previous experience in translation, transcription, and/or interpretation.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Notes)
  • Excellent active listening and written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Native ability to read, write, and understand standard Spanish (Mexican dialect) grammar and writing style.
  • Demonstrated ability to verbally communicate clearly and natively in the standard Spanish (Mexican dialect).
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret idiomatic expressions in standard Spanish (Mexican dialect).
  • Must be able to use appropriate phrasing in their interpretation to successfully preserve the original meaning and intention of the standard Spanish (Mexican dialect) language.
  • Must be able to analyze written and audio/visual materials, conduct research and analysis, organize data, prepare reports.
  • Advanced understanding of how to organize data in Microsoft Excel. Must be skilled in understanding, developing or modifying and applying MS Excel formulas and functions (i.e., INDEX, INT, MOD).
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Recent experience living or working in Mexico.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of computers and standard office equipment to accomplish work objectives.
  • Occasional short-term travel may be required based on customer needs.
