Non-tenure track, Open-Rank, Teaching Faculty in Computer and Information Sciences

The Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences (KFSCIS) is a rapidly growing program of excellence at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida. KF-SCIS currently contains:

  • 62 faculty members
  • Over 4,200 students, including roughly 100 Ph.D. students, and 300 M.S. students
  • Expanding research, education and outreach programs
  • Degrees in Computer Science (BA, BS, MS, PhD), Cybersecurity (BS, MS), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (BS, MS), and Information Technology (BS, MS)
  • Six research centers with first-class computing and support infrastructure
  • Broad and dynamic industry and international partnerships

Computer Science has been identified as one of the University's strategic growth areas, launching new expansion plans to educate and train technology talent for the burgeoning South Florida Tech Hub.

KF-SCIS seeks candidates for multiple non-tenure-track, open-rank, teaching faculty positions. Successful candidates are expected to teach a variety of courses offered by the school. A terminal degree in computer science or related discipline is required. While this position is not a tenure-track position, it does have a promotion progression: teaching faculty with a terminal degree are eligible for consideration for promotion after five years.

Pending enrollment and budgets, teaching faculty have the opportunity to supplement their salary by teaching larger or additional course sections and extending their appointment through the summer.
