General Position Summary: Mason, Bruce & Girard (MB&G) is seeking an experienced part-time Forester to lead a project in southwest Idaho. This is an opportunity to work with non-industrial private forest landowners to restore fire resiliency across Southwest Idaho in Ada, Boise, Adams, and Valley Counties, reducing wildfire risk and improving forest health through planning, layout, and implementation oversight.
This role combines applied forestry, project management, and landowner engagement to deliver tangible wildfire resilience outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical forestry expertise, familiarity with Idaho’s forest practice regulations, and the ability to work independently while coordinating closely with our client and private landowners. This is a dynamic position for professionals who enjoy a balanced mix of field and office work: approximately 60% field / 40% office. This is a part-time position with variable hours that will fluctuate depending on project needs. While we anticipate an average of 20-30 hours per week, actual hours may vary. There are no guaranteed minimum hours. This position will primarily support work on a multi-year project. Additional work may be available depending on the individual's skills and other project opportunities, however employment beyond the project term is contingent on future contract awards.
The project area is in Ada, Boise, Adams, and Valley Counties, Idaho. Preference will be given to applicants who live in these counties. A reliable personal vehicle is required for travel to project sites and meetings with landowners. While most travel will be on paved or well-maintained gravel roads, winter conditions may occasionally require additional caution or capability. At MB&G, you’ll work alongside dedicated professionals who share your commitment to sustainable forestry and environmental stewardship. Join us in shaping a healthier future for forests and communities, we can’t wait to hear from you.
Why MB&G?
What Makes an Ideal Candidate? You are a seasoned forestry professional who thrives in both field and office settings. You’re equally comfortable conducting landowner site visits, drafting NRCS-compliant Forest Management Plans, and coordinating with contractors on active treatment projects.
