POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Neurology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology in the Neurology Neuromuscular Division. The incumbent will be involved in the clinical care of neuromuscular patients at the U Health clinics, University of Miami Hospital, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The incumbent will be appointed at the rank of non-tenure earning Assistant Professor on the clinical educator track in the Neuromuscular Division, Department of Neurology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Care for patients in the U Health outpatient settings
• Conduct EMGs at Uhealth, JMH and develop the EMG service at Uhealth Tower
• Train/mentor physicians and staff
• Preparation and presentation at teaching conferences
• Develop research program in Neuromuscular Disorder
• Obtain data and results that can be used to submit an application for future clinical research awards
• Will conduct EMGs testing at Uhealth and JMH clinics and develop the EMG service at the University of Miami Hospital
• Will participate in the educational and mentorship activities of the Neuromuscular Division and the Department of Neurology

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and experience:
• Requires an MD degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent)
• Neuromuscular Fellowship is also required and board certification in Neurology is strongly recommended
• Eligible for Florida Medical License
• Strong clinical and research background in the areas of clinical or translational research in Neuromuscular Disorder

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Good communications skills (face to face, over the phone and in writing)
• Excellent customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively with other employees.
• Good organizational skills.

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Work conditions: work is normally performed in an indoor office environment. Subject to frequent interruptions.
2. Physical Activity Requirements:

• Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or by telephone.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
• Reaching to retrieve and maintain files.
• Bending, pushing, moving and lifting files, documents and objects weighing up to approximately 15-20 pounds.
