Interstates is currently seeking a full-time Manufacturing Quality Assurance Technician I to join our Manufacturing team in Sioux Center, Iowa. This entry-level role supports the Quality Manager and production team in maintaining high product quality standards for control panels and related assemblies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-minded, and motivated to support continuous improvement efforts within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities:

Quality Inspection & Testing



  • Conduct manual and automated quality inspections and tests at various stages of the production process
  • Perform panel testing
  • Identify defects or nonconformities and communicate findings to the Quality Assurance Manager
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are consistently upheld


Documentation & Compliance



  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions
  • Assist in creating and maintaining quality documentation
  • Support adherence to quality standards, audit preparedness, and document control processes
  • Ensure testing and inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained


Continuous Improvement



  • Utilize structured problem-solving methods (e.g., root cause analysis, 5 Whys) to resolve quality issues
  • Support continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to reduce defects and improve process capability
  • Participate in 5S and GEMBA walks on the shop floor
  • Assist the Quality Manager in recommending and implementing quality improvements


Collaboration & Communication



  • Communicate safety or quality concerns promptly and work collaboratively toward resolution
  • Partner with production team members to ensure consistent quality execution


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Associate degree in industrial technology, manufacturing, electrical, or related field helpful but not required
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality principles preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accurate documentation
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards


Work Environment & Travel:

This role is based out of Sioux Center, Iowa, and is performed primarily in a manufacturing and shop environment with exposure to moderate to high noise levels, electrical components, and active production areas.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee frequently stands or walks for extended periods and uses hands to handle tools and materials. Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and climbing ladders or scaffolds may be required. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish slight differences in shapes or shading.

Safety remains a top priority. Employees must adhere strictly to site safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and safety glasses. Role-specific PPE will be provided.
