Description

The Patient Navigator plays a vital role in creating a smooth, supportive, and coordinated experience for patients receiving care across our Radiation Oncology locations. Under the general supervision of the Front Desk Supervisor and Manager, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients from the moment their appointment is scheduled through the entirety of their care journey.

In this highly interactive and patient-focused role, you will guide patients through next steps, ensure they have all necessary information, and coordinate seamlessly with clinical and administrative teams. Your organizational expertise and understanding of physician practice operations will help ensure that each patient arrives prepared and supported.

Key responsibilities include facilitating clear and professional communication, obtaining necessary authorizations, and helping patients understand the approval process. You will also triage incoming phone calls and provide general assistance to support smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage frequent interruptions with professionalism, and takes a proactive approach to anticipating and resolving patient needs.

Salary: $30.36- $43.49 hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to work on a self-directed basis, make independent decisions, and follow-through on assignments.
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly to groups or on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information to outside agencies and various individuals at various managerial levels.
  • Ability to maintain equanimity in situations which require conflict resolution.
  • Skill in organizing/coordinating a variety of information, materials, and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort.
  • Working knowledge of Thoracic Surgical Oncology, cancer, and medical terminology.
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments when faced with heavy workload, deadlines, interruptions, and competing requests for service in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Skill in reading correspondence and other written communication in order to determine the urgency of the communication and who should be made aware of it.
  • Skill in writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence such as informational letters, memoranda, and notification letters.
  • Skill in interacting diplomatically with a diverse population composed of staff, physicians, administrators, and outside personnel.
  • Ability to modify and adapt office procedures to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to work efficiently when faced with frequent interruptions.
  • Knowledge of University structure and policies sufficient to serve as a resource for questions, referrals, and documentation.
  • Ability to recognize and deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations with co-workers. Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues.
  • Ability to utilize CareConnect to register, encounter, and arrive patients, and to retrieve patient records.
  • Skill in using Word and Excel.
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
