The PACU at Mercy STL is a phase one recovery for patients who have undergone a surgical procedure or any procedure that required general anesthetic. We work closely with the Anesthesia team to mange care.

The patients come to us and then move on to their phase two area, which can be our ambulatory surgery center to send them home, or one of our inpatient areas. Acuity can range from Med Surg simple straightforward patients to ICU critical patients.

We work with many types of surgeons, including but not limited to, Genitourinary, Ear Nose Throat, General surgery, Pediatric, GYN and Bariatric.

???? What You'll Do

As a Patient Care Associate (PCA), you'll work under the direction of an RN or LPN to support individualized patient care and wellness. You'll be a vital part of a collaborative team, performing both clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks that make a real difference.

What You'll Need

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrollment in a healthcare career program
  • Experience: None required - Mercy provides a 175-hour training program for new hires
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required within 1 month of hire
    • PCA competencies - completed within 3 months of hire
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to push/pull/lift 50 lbs, prolonged standing/walking, and physical mobility to perform duties
  • Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
