The Lead Therapist is responsible for promoting teamwork, assistance, and being a resource to the multidisciplinary team for patient care. Works directly with behavior specialists and therapists to train, coach, provide consultation and support to assigned staff. Has oversight of development, coordination, and facilitation of social services provided to patients and their families. Collaborates with and supports the site operational and clinical leadership team. Provides direct patient care and social services as needed. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Collaborate with the site leadership team to provide oversight and resources for clinical staff.
  • Oversee and assure effective planning and patient care from admission to discharge is performed in a timely manner by staff.

  • Ensure all staff scheduling and coverage needs are met

  • Collaborate with the Director/Manager of Operations to establish goals that are consistent with the job description duties, program requirements, and mission of the system.

    • Communicate goals to staff.

    • Evaluate and report to the Director/Manager of Operations.

    • Participate in staff evaluations

  • Promote a team environment by example and by participating in workload completion and accepting patient assignments.

  • Involve the Director/Manager of Operations when any employee-related issues arise.

  • Assist employees in professional growth.

  • Participate in department and multidisciplinary meetings and provide timely communication and problem resolution.

  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of organized, regular oversight of staff.

  • Follow cases to provide feedback for the improvement of the quality of care delivered by staff.

  • Participate in the orientation and supervision of new staff and student interns

    • Supervision will be tracked and logged to identify content of supervision and focused goals for improvement.

Provide patient care
  • Accept patient assignment and requests for coverage.

  • Provide effective group, individual, and/or family therapy as necessary.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary staffing by being prepared to discuss each patient's progress.

Conduct medical record audits to identify deficiencies, improve quality of care and consistency.
  • Ensure all deficiencies in medical record documentation, assessments and required forms are resolved immediately.

  • Complete audit of 20% of charts based on daily census for all programs

    • Record results of audited records and make recommendations of error or quality trends to be improved.

  • Provide feedback, education and observations to the staff member, Director/Manager of Operations, and Clinical Director/Supervisor.

Assist in the recruitment process.
  • Assist in conducting interviews that are comprehensive, fair, and lead to a timely recruitment decision.

Participate in the System's marketing/outreach activities.
  • Interact with the Outreach Representative for the corresponding location to communicate customer-related issues as directed; participate in the customer feedback process, when necessary

  • In collaboration with Director/Manager of Operations and Outreach Representative, participate in outreach visits, educational talks, or other community events.

Promote a team atmosphere by treating individuals with respect and honesty and by using direct communication and active listening skills.
  • Be open to change and actively support change.

  • Be open to others' ideas and points of view.

  • Uses emotional intelligence to effectively communicate, lead, and develop leaders and staff.

  • Evaluate employees objectively and provide employees with periodic coaching and feedback.

  • Ensure all team members are following policies and procedures for Rogers.

  • Assist in educating new staff regarding regulations or requirements of those functions that relate to their areas or departments, as directed.

  • In collaboration with human resources with conflict resolution and investigations.

  • Maintain an understanding of any variance and its impact on the department budget.

  • Ability to influence departments within Rogers and provide leadership guidance.

  • Include requirements and guidelines from external agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, State of Wisconsin).

  • Educate new staff regarding regulations or requirements of those functions that relate to their areas or departments, as directed.

Education/Training Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field, from an accredited school of Social Work, Professional Counseling, or Family Therapy with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in health care and at least two (2) years in a psychiatric setting, preferred.

  • Full, independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent in state practicing, i.e. LPCC, LMHC.

  • If working in a program requiring substance use credentialing, A SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC is preferred in WI. A substance abuse specialty authorization applicable to the state hired in is required.

  • Working knowledge of therapeutic intervention and techniques for all age groups, as well as the dynamics of human growth and behavior.

  • Per program description, this job may include duties of cognitive behavioral therapies in addition to social services.

  • American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within thirty (30) days of date of hire. Bi-annual re-certification is required.

  • Formal training in the management of the aggressive patient (NCI) is required within sixty (60) days of date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.

  • Attend all mandatory in-services and other in-services relevant to the position. Be responsible for all educational requirements and related obligations pertaining to the license of the program/unit license regulatory requirements governing the program(s).

Pay Transparency Requirements:

Compensation for this role is between $90,000.00 - $138,827.52 and placement in the range will vary based on years of experience and education.
