Position Description

Position Overview:

Support development of energy conservation projects through on-site auditing, engineering analysis, understanding of energy/mechanical systems, and other design disciplines to produce coordinated drawings and specifications for pricing and construction.

What You'll Do:

  1. Support Lead Engineers on design and building energy modeling.
  2. Review drawings and submittals.
  3. Ensure design changes are documented and issued to project management.
  4. Assist regular on-site reviews and produce engineering construction reports.
  5. Assist Project Management during closeout of work (commissioning, as-built drawings).
  6. Support the energy services with design services and technical assistance.
  7. Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.
  8. Assist the energy design team with performing various design calculations.
  9. Support measurement and verification activities.

Learning Opportunities:

  1. Learn how to support building energy modeling and engineering analysis.
  2. Assist in the development and refinement of estimating databases and pricing tools used in preconstruction.
  3. Gain experience reviewing technical drawings, submittals, and documenting design changes.
  4. Observe how engineering teams conduct site reviews and produce construction reports.
  5. Contribute to project closeout activities, including commissioning and preparation of as-built documentation.
  6. Strengthen your understanding of mechanical systems and energy-efficient design through hands-on calculations and design support.
Position Requirements

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Energy/Sustainability or a related field.
  2. Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  3. Professional and ethical.
  4. Ability to effectively multi-task with attention to detail.
  5. Flexibility to change gears and re-prioritize tasks under pressure and to similarly motivate staff to do the same.
  6. Good organizational skills.
  7. Willing to work with other employees in a team.
  8. CAD experience - ability to plot drawings and make minor revisions to existing drawings.
  9. Computer skills - competent with spreadsheets and word processor programs.
  10. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
