| Essential Job Duties |
The Executive Assistant to the Dean provides comprehensive executive-level administrative support and operational coordination for the College of Design's Dean. In this role you will ensure the seamless execution of the Dean's priorities, manages high-level communications, and serves as a liaison across university leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners.
Primary responsibilities include:
Administrative and Executive Support
- Manage and coordinate the Dean's complex calendar, meetings, travel, and events.
- Prioritize and manage the Dean's correspondence, ensuring timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Compile, research, and prepare reports, presentations, and visual materials (e.g., graphs, charts, timelines).
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information and exercising sound professional judgment.
- Interpret and disseminate University and College policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and students.
- Provide administrative oversight for daily operations of the Dean's Office.
Governance and Faculty Support
- Coordinate the Administrative Council meetings, agendas, and follow-up actions.
- Maintain and manage faculty committee and task force assignments.
- Provide administrative oversight of the Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) process.
- Liaise with faculty senate and other governance bodies on behalf of the Dean.
College and External Relations
- Serve as the Dean's liaison to college and university leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners.
- Support the Dean's engagement with the College External Relations Office, donors, and civic leaders.
- Coordinate special projects, events, and strategic initiatives led by the Dean.
- Represent the Dean's Office in a professional and diplomatic manner across all constituencies.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
High School diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or graduation with an associate's degree in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Other Required Qualifications |
- Extensive experience in academic administrative management.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare visual and analytical materials (graphs, charts, timelines).
- Proven project management experience.
- High degree of independence, initiative, and professionalism.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures accurately.
- Demonstrated discretion and professional judgment at all times.
