Job Summary:

The Eissa lab is seeking to hire an entry-level Research Services Information Sciences Professional to assist with computational modeling of human decision-making strategies at the University of Colorado Anschutz. This position will use computational behavioral and neural network models to analyze experimental behavioral data from humans. It will also work closely with the existing research team to design and execute all aspects of the work. Entry Information Science Professionals utilize applied or computational mathematical analyses and computer science for a wide array of different applications and to solve complex problems. Experiments may include coding, data science approaches to analyzing human behavior, online task development and software engineering, Bayesian modeling and approaches to data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preprocessing and data scientific approaches to analyzing human behavioral data

  • Computational model development and comparisons to data

  • Code maintenance and documentation

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other team members

  • Develop and implement online behavioral tasks

  • Creatively and effectively integrate data from multiple sources to accelerate discoveries

  • Assist with the design and development of programming projects

  • Write custom scripts to access and analyze data

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science or related field

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science or related field

  • One or more (1+) years of experience with Python or similar programming language

  • Experience working with neural network models, Bayesian modeling, and/or human behavioral data

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computational modeling experience with knowledge on good documentation and version control

  • Willingness to collaborate with a team to complete tasks

  • Strong knowledge of basic statistical principles relevant in neuroscience research

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches

  • Demonstrated fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl, Java, C++) and willingness to learn new programming languages as necessary

  • Familiarity with statistical analytical concepts and methods

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range for this position has been established as $52,103 - $66,275.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
