THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) focused primarily on AMD FPGA technology. This is a field-focused position. The engineer will provide pre and post sales technical guidance to customers, including system and module level design evaluations, technical issue resolution and developing reference designs and delivering demonstrations. In top customer engagements, the FAE may become a consistent technical contributor and "extension" of the customer's development team. In addition, the FAE will provide feedback to AMD product development teams on current and future products, including tools, run-time software, device architectures and IP. The role will also involve creating and delivering training material for customers in the area of effective design methodologies.

Position will require travel to customer locations in the Midwestern United States that is achievable by an automobile. Occasional travel by airplane to conferences typically only once a year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide pre and post sales technical guidance to customers.
  • System and module level design evaluations, technical issue resolution, and developing reference designs to aid in customer success and accelerate design schedules.
  • Deliver presentations and demos on AMD products, tools, and methodologies that align with customers' interests.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance that focuses on design win strategies for all customer opportunities.
  • Collaborate with peers in the field and factory to develop and deliver technical proposals to the key stakeholders within our strategic customers.
  • Provide feedback to AMD product development teams on current and future products, including tools, run-time software, device architectures and IP.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience with FPGA and/or ASIC including Verilog and/or VHDL coding and simulation/verification tools
  • Prior experience with AMD Vivado and Vitis Tools
  • Experience with designing and debugging complex designs requiring integration of custom and vendor IP. Strong knowledge of optimizing implementation flows as well as utilizing debug tools.
  • Embedded processing knowledge
  • Familiar with x86 and ARM architectures, performance metrics, OS (especially Linux), BSP, drivers, and debugging tools
  • Technical knowledge of GPU and CPU architectures and tradeoffs
  • Familiarity with RF, various protocols and interfaces like Ethernet, PCIe, DDR4/5, etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentations skills, and the ability to work with multiple groups
  • Experience in customer support or customer facing roles

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
