Glassware & Media Technician

We currently have an opening for a Glassware & Media Technician in Microbiology

The Glassware Media Technician is responsible for cleaning and sterilizing laboratory glassware/plasticware/equipment to ensure that the analysis can proceed as necessary. This position will also prepare media and diluents for microbial limit testing.

Primary responsibility for the job:

• Washing and preparing glassware/plasticware/equipment for sterilization.
• Preparation of media and diluents to be used in Microbial Limit Testing.
• General laboratory upkeep (eg. Cleaning, Maintenance and Verification of balances, autoclave, oven, Incubators etc).
• General housekeeping and organization of the laboratory
• Maintain the inventory of consumables in the lab.
• Biological Waste disposal as required.
• The employee shall implement the Laboratory Quality Policy and preform their duties in accordance to existing project specific equipment, current test methods, study plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Compliance to Health & Safety policies and procedures and wear Personal Protective equipment at all time in the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

• Highschool - applied sciences with focus on laboratory.
  
• Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
