Organizational Unit Overview
The mission of the College of Education is the preparation of professional educators and allied practitioners. Significant to this mission is a strong commitment to three important related areas, all of which are realized through partnerships and other endeavors. These three areas are:

  1. The encouragement and nurturing of professional growth for educators and allied practitioners at all levels and in all areas of the educational endeavor;
  2. A continuing emphasis on and support for scholarship and research/creative activity;

To achieve its vision, the College of Education is guided in its action by the University strategic planning process which includes providing innovative programs and certifications to address state and regional workforce needs, along with collaborating with regional partners to establish accessible and affordable pathways to our College of Education programs, creating a seamless transition for aspiring educators into our institution and back to regional schools and districts as qualified professional educators after completion. Some goals for this strategic plan would include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Increasing enrollments across programs and certificates within the College of Education
  2. Increasing study away opportunities for our College of Education students
  3. Increasing graduation rates
  4. Working to reduce student debt for graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Education.

Job Duties
The Department of Literacy Studies and Special Education in the College of Education at East Carolina University is seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month fixed-term faculty position to begin July 2026.

Responsibilities include teaching online and/or face to face graduate courses that align with behavior analytic content, which may include some evenings; holding office hours to support students; supporting in the development of a program leading to BCBA certification; participating in interdepartmental collaboration between Special Education and Psychology on curriculum revisions; supervision of clinical hours; development and maintenance of strong community partners; communication with graduate school; admission related tasks; participate in program, departmental, and college service responsibilities and committee work; and other duties assigned.

Contingent upon the availability of funds.
Minimum Education/Experience
Doctoral degree with focus in Applied Behavior Analysis; strong demonstrated history of supporting trainees or students in learning and applying behavior analytic content. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

  • Current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or BCBA-D certification in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) in the state of North Carolina.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Teaching experience in higher education setting; three or more years teaching experience in public schools setting or clinical experience applying behavior analytic practices; experience developing and teaching online, asynchronous instruction
