Who you are

You're a motivated student with a strong interest in research and commercial real estate, ready to contribute to our dynamic team as a yearlong Research Intern in our Long Island, NY office. Highly organized and detail-oriented, you take pride in delivering work of the highest quality. You bring a customer-focused mindset and thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. In this role, you'll assist with research, data analysis, property listings, and client presentations, while gaining exposure to real estate transactions. You're adaptable and enjoy variety in your work, thriving in an environment where no two days are the same. Above all, you're eager to learn, collaborate, and share ideas to achieve outstanding results.

What you bring

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in real estate, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • A strong interest in Real Estate, Research, or Urban Planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Able to calculate and analyze key metrics and indicators (vacancy, absorption, inventory, deliveries, cap rates, etc.).
  • Strong research and analytical skills. Experience preparing and writing research reports and/or
  • proposals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced skillset tracking and updating multiple sets of data via Excel, Smartsheet, Access, etc.
  • Resourceful, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize efficiently, meet tight deadlines and coordinate deadlines and responsibilities with multiple groups in projects.

Bonus skills and experience

  • Commercial real estate experience
  • Knowledge of intermediate MS Excel functions such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP's
  • Knowledge in Mapping/GIS Software
  • Knowledge of/experience with resources such as: CoStar, Lightcast Labor Data, Placer.ai, ZoomInfo and MSCI (formerly known as Real Capital Analytics).
  • Experience with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot
  • Familiarity with the NYC retail market

What success looks like

  • You will collect and analyze data on NYC CRE markets (office, retail, industrial) and related trends.
  • You will prepare market reports, presentations, and dashboards summarizing research findings.
  • You will monitor news, regulatory changes, and economic indicators impacting CRE.
  • You will maintain internal databases and ensure data accuracy through validation checks.
  • You have strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel required.
  • You have familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have interest in NYC real estate market and broader economic trends.
  • You have a basic understanding of commercial property types and valuation concepts preferred.
