Job Title: AI Governance & Data Readiness Professional.
Location: Richmond, VA.
Job Summary:
- Seeking a strategic and technically adept AI Governance expert to design, implement, and oversee enterprise-wide AI governance frameworks. This role will ensure responsible AI development and deployment aligned with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.
- The position sits within the Governance Office and collaborates cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, IT, Procurement, and Data Strategy teams.
Key Responsibilities Governance Frameworks & Policy Development:
- Collaborate with the AI Center of Excellence to develop and maintain AI governance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Align governance efforts with ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, and internal SAFE (Steward of AI Fairness & Ethics) protocols.
- Collaborate with Data Science teams to define decision boundaries for AI/ML models ensuring appropriate monitoring, bias mitigation, clarity, and transparency of models.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Collaborate with Procurement and AI Center of Excellence to conduct risk assessments and impact analyses for AI technologies.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
- Interface with Procurement to ensure Responsible AI questions are addressed in supplier requisitions and contracts.
Data Readiness for AI Applications:
- Partner with Enterprise Data Strategy teams to ensure data used in AI systems is high-quality, well-documented, and fit for purpose.
- Define and enforce standards for data lineage, metadata management, and data stewardship to support AI model development and monitoring.
- Collaborate with Data Governance and Engineering teams to ensure data pipelines are auditable, secure, and aligned with AI governance requirements.
- Establish protocols for data minimization, anonymization, and synthetic data generation where appropriate.
- Ensure data sources used in AI applications meet ethical sourcing standards and are free from systemic bias.
- Establish governance framework and guardrails required for GenAI applications and use of LLMs/SLMs at large.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, IT, and business units to align governance initiatives.
- Support the Information Governance Advisory Board (IGAB) and AI Council with quarterly packets and policy updates.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Collaborate with Data Science and AI Center of Excellence teams to establish metrics to evaluate AI system performance, fairness, and robustness.
- Ensure traceability between data input, model decisions, and business outcomes.
Training & Enablement:
- Provide training and guidance on AI governance practices.
- Partner with AI Center of Excellence to lead internal awareness campaigns on ethical AI use and data handling.
Top Skills:
- Strong knowledge of AI Governance frameworks and hands on experience with design and implementation of such frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data platforms and applications.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML Governance platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's in computer science, Law, Data Science, or related field.
- 3 years in AI governance, data strategy, compliance, or risk management.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and governance tools (e.g., Databricks, Purview, Profisee, Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with SAFE protocols and AI lifecycle documentation.
- Prior involvement in enterprise governance boards or policy committees.
- Knowledge of procurement workflows and supplier risk assessments.
- Experience in data readiness assessments and data quality frameworks for AI/ML applications.
