Position Summary

Position Summary:

Under close supervision, student will be expected to provide administrative support such as covering the front desk with student intake and screening, answering telephones, creating forms, distributing flyers, scanning documents, preparing confidential documents for shredding and proctoring services for Accuplacer and other testing room needs. Other duties may include simple clerical duties such as but not limited to filing, sorting forms and records, provide general office information to staff, students and faculty, check mail, log incoming and outgoing mail as needed. Must have computer, telephone and customer service skills. Will run department errands as needed, will be working with confidential information and records. Will work with advisor as needed. Put packets together for new student orientations, provide new student tours and short presentations as needed and other outreach functions.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • UNM Student

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work-study preferred
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Highly developed ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively manage time and schedules
  • Ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines
  • Ability to initialize and operate computer hardware and software systems
  • Ability to communicate and vet incoming telephone calls
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Ability to speak clearly with easily understood vocal inflection
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to verify data input and correct errors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer services standards and procedures
  • Skill in organizing and coordinating
  • Skill in the use and operation of basic office equipment
