We are currently seeking a Legal Contracts Specialist in our Barrington, IL office, reporting to the General Counsel. In this key role, this person will review, draft, and revise various legal agreements for our operating companies. This individual will handle confidential and sensitive information pertaining to contracts and other legal matters that impact the company.



Responsibilities:



  • Review and prepare written construction agreements between Pepper Construction and project owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Maintain template contract forms and update them as necessary.
  • Track and manage written agreements through the entirety of the contract preparation, negotiation, and execution process, including proofreading, editing, and ensuring document control is maintained.
  • Respond to contract resolution inquiries.
  • Interpret and apply Pepper Construction's policies, practices, and procedures as they relate to legal agreements ensuring compliance.
  • Respond to non-party subpoenas and mechanic leans.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of experience in legal contract preparation and negotiation experience. Prior experience in the construction industry experience a plus.
  • Paralegal certificate or law degree preferred. Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal education a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including interfacing with senior-level staff members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, and various PDF platforms such as Adobe.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to work independently but have a clear understanding of the risk involved and when to solicit management's involvement.
  • Highly skilled in proofreading and strong attention to details.

The midpoint salary for this position is $125,000. We consider many factors when determining actual hiring salary. These factors may include location, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, internal equity, and market demands.
